Welcome...

...to BATS Next Gen's website - a source for all the information you could ever desire on this amateur musical theatre company, set up for Basingstoke's budding young performers. Our age range is from 7 to 18 years (at time of performance), and we audition for every show. Please note, we are not a drama or dance club - if you are looking to join a weekly class we recommend you check out some of our links on the left-hand side for ideas.

We are self-funding and do not receive any grants or funding from any outside source - all monies made from ticket sales goes back into the company for the next productions. If you would like to support us with a donation, no matter how small, please click on the PayPal DONATE button on the left. We are most grateful - thank you!

If you're looking to find out more about our next show to be performed in Basingstoke, get some inside information on the talent we stage or indeed to find out how to enrol yourself or your children, you've come to the right place!

RENT School Edition

This is a rock musical set in the Lower East Side of New York in Alphabet City and follows the struggles to survive of a group of artists and musicians in the shadow of HIV/AIDS. Probably its most famous song is "Seasons of Love" which asks which way is best to quantify a year in the life of a person.

This performance is the special school edition of RENT and will be performed by students. Due to the issues covered in the script, the audition will be open to those in Year 7 through to first year at Sixth Form College at the time of the audition.

Our pre-audition workshops start on Tuesday June 19th. This workshop is currently full. A few spaces remain on the next workshop to be held on Tuesday June 26th. Once they are filled, the next date will be Tuesday 3rd July. For more details or to register, please contact Sandie Thomson via the link here..

Performance dates will be in February 2013. Pre-audition workshops will be held after Easter as well as the audition. Details to follow

LONDON 2012 - The Final Hurdle

This comedy musical, written by Rachel Glover and Fiona Morgans, will be performed on Sunday 27th May. The story is based around the forthcoming Olympic Games and the discovery that Britain must pay Greece a lot of money before the Games can go ahead. So where will the cutbacks happen? What will Mayor Boris Johnson do?

A very topical theme, incorporating song and dance as well as a lot of running, this show will be performed by our 8 - 11 year old members at Fairfields Arts Centre or an alternative venue if the weather improves!

News & Events

Rachel Glover, our Musical Director for most of our productions, has been asked to be Musical Director for BATS 2013 production of "Little Shop of Horrors".

Vikki McAuley, past BNG member, will be holding a fund-raising concert on July 1st 2012 at Queen Mary's Hall, Cliddesden Road, Basingstoke. Money raised will help her to take up the offer of a place at the Musical Theatre College she successfully auditioned for. We hope as many people as possible will support her.
